Cosy Tea

The lovely folks at Cosy tea sent me a big box of samples to try- lucky me (you all know how much I love tea).

Cosy tea make a range of organic, unbleached tea, which are approved by the vegetarian society, and are suitable for vegans. The black teas are fairtrade, and the packaging has won an award! You can even submit your own knitted tea cosy to be a design on a pack.

First up was the Peppermint Infusion;

This smelled so minty, even before I took the wrapping off the box! I left it to brew for a few minutes (as per the instructions) and then enjoyed. This tea is light and refreshing, and although it smells very minty, the taste is faint. While it is not as strong tasting as teapigs liquorice and peppermint, it means that it can go alongside other flavours as it is not overpowering. Smashing- 9/10 cherries

Next was the Earl Grey tea;

This is lovely. I am a fan of Earl Grey anyway, I find it really refreshing and a little bit different. The bergamot flavour in this is subtle (the box smells lovely too) but there is enough there for it to be different to black tea. If you fancy replicating afternoon teas, then I think this is the tea to use. Delightful. 10/10 cherries

Then I tried the Rooibos with vanilla.

The pack smells very sweet- you can tell it is a vanilla tea. Thankfully it did not taste as sweet as it smelled! It was lovely, with a hint of sweetness in the taste (the perfect companion to some dark chocolate in fact). A lovely tea to have with any sweet snack. 9/10 cherries

Then I tried the Green Tea with Lemon.

This was really refreshing. I do not think I had ever had green tea before, but I quite liked it. The lemon smell was lovely, and you could taste it in the tea without it being too overpowering. I think it sort of tasted like weak black tea with a slice of lemon in it. Refreshing. 8/10 cherries

Then it was time for Green tea with Jasmine.

I have no idea what jasmine actually tastes like, but it was again very nice. I suppose it was a little bit perfumey, like the bergamot in Earl Grey or something. I let it brew a while, but the flavour was subtle. I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed it as it was a little bit different to black tea. I think I preferred the lemon one, but only marginally. So, 7.5/ 10 cherries.

Finally I tried the Chamomile tea

This tea contains chamomile, green oat straw (?) and natural liquorice flavour. I think the liquorice gives it sweetness (it is not like black liquorice you know)- it smelled like sweeties, and tasted lovely too. Again I don’t think I had ever tried it before, but it was really tasty. Another great surprise.

8/10 cherries

I really enjoyed trying these cosy teas. I tried new flavours that I would probably have not tried, and enjoyed them all. The boxes have 20 teabags per box, all individually wrapped which is great for me as I can pop one in my bag for work.

So thank you cosy tea for letting me try them :)

  1. I just noticed that I used the same cup for nearly all of them! (I have two of those pink heart mugs). Such a creature of habit!
