Twinings

I was asked to review some Twinings Tea, and of course I could not refuse! As you know, tea is one of my favourite drinks.

Some English Breakfast teabags;

And some loose leaf “In flush” Darjeeling;

First I had the English Breakfast teabags in my fab teapot :)

According to the packet this is a superior blend, and they are not teabags but tea-pillows. Doesn’t that sound lovely?

The tea was lovely- sometimes English Breakfast tea can be a bit too much like builders tea- strong and black and a bit bitter, but this was nice and light (even after brewing for a while). I was impressed. 8/10 cherries (I still prefer chai -the spicy king of all teas!).

Then I tried the loose leaf 1st Flush Darjeeling;

I love the ritual of having loose leaf tea. You have to take your time by brewing it in a teapot- you can’t shove a bag in and pump it about with a teaspoon. It is the civilised way to drink tea, and I love it at the weekends when I have the time to make it properly.

It says on the box “subtle hints of sweet grapes and delicate floral notes makes this first flush Thurbo estate tea the perfect choice for mid-afternoon refreshment or evening relaxation“. I often choose darjeeling tea if I am out and have a choice of teas, as I find it lighter and less bitter than other black teas, and this one was no exception. I am not sure if I could taste grapes or anything like that, but I do like the flavour. It made a pale coloured tea that tasted delicious and was perfect mid-afternoon on a Saturday. If only I had the scones to go along with it!

9.5/10 cherries
