When I got home the other day another exciting parcel was waiting for me, containing a heap of goodies!

Conscious Chocolates are handmade raw bars that are free from pesticides, dairy, gluten, soya and refined sugars. Sounds good so far, right?
They come in many exotic sounding flavours including Easter Sunshine, made with sunflower seeds and sundried mangoes, and Yummy Mummy made with lucuma and yacon root.
(I didn’t know what it was so I copied from the website; Lucuma (whole fruit powder) gives this bar its rich, creamy texture. Yacon root helps the absorption of vitamin c and minerals and gives this bar its sweetness.)
I emailed back and asked for some nutrition information, as it is not on the wrapper. Straight away the nutrition facts for the plain bar was sent to me (how efficient), which are as follows;
(Per 100g)- 547 cals, 7.7g protein, 40.1g carbs, 23.5 sugars, 36.8g fat, 29g saturates. Each bar is around 40-45 g so it is easy to work out from there the nutrition information (although it would vary with the add-ins). The bars are pretty rich so half a bar would definately suffice.
So first I tried the Mint Hint;

It is made with peppermint oil, and is 60% cacao solids. It is truly dark chocolate, and the mint smell was strong. The chocolate melted very easily (which I like) and the taste was lovely- very intense dark chocolate with a strong mint flavour.

Next I tried the Nutty One:

This bar has brazils, cashews, hazelnuts and walnuts. It is again very dark, super rich and soft in texture- it melts in your mouth. The nuts are cut nice and small so you get some nutty pieces in each mouthful. The nutty flavour is subtle, due to the small pieces.

Then I shared the Goji and Coconut;

This is amazing! Seriously! I did not think I would love it as much as I did. There are tiny pieces of coconut, nice chewy goji berries, the chocolate is so rich, and the coconut and goji give it some sweetness.
10/10 cherries- my absolute favourite so far, truly amazing delicious chocolate.
I have also tried the Fruit fantasy;

This bar has dates and sun-dried figs in it. It was lovely- the figs added a lovely texture, and a good sweetness too. I loved it as much as the goji coconut one. I love the unusual combination of flavours- have not seen these used in chocolate before but they go really well.
10/10 cherries for this one too!
The Intense 80% ;

This is also amazing! Sometimes really dark chocolate can be too bitter, but this one tasted perfectly of dark chocolate, but without the bitter tang (maybe from the agave?). I also liked the texture- kind of crumbly, sort of like an aero of whispa bar- I think the more intense chocolates do have that different texture.
10/10 cherries for this one too!
The Yummy Mummy;

Which has lucuma and yacon root. It had a sweet flavour, and little chewy pieces of possibly the yacon root, which were similar to little pieces of coconut. I could not quite place the flavour, but I did like it.

Berry Christmas (with Inca berries, bilberries and blackcurrants)

This was surprisingly tasty. I am not a fan of blackcurrants (except in my cheesecake!), but the berries were moist and added a lovely sweet contrast to the dark chocolate. Again, a soft texture (I love chocolate that melts in the mouth), strong chocolate flavour and half the bar was more than enough.
9/10 cherries
Easter Sunshine;
This one has sunflower seeds and dried mango. I loved the sweetness of the dried mango, and the seeds added a good crunch. Again such a lovely texture, and a really unusual flavour. 10/10 cherries
Healthy Heart
(I forgot to take a picture)- It has maca, vanilla pods and wild blue-green algae. Again, an amazing bar of chocolate, a sweet flavour and an amazing texture. 9/10 cherries
