I have been a fan of Ecomil almond milk (especially the unsweetened version) for a long time, so when I was offered the chance to try some of their desserts I jumped at the chance!
I was sent two packs of cocoa almond desserts, and two packs of vanilla almond desserts, plus a nutritional information booklet. The booklet was really interesting and had a lot of information about the origins of the company, issues with soya (1/3 of people who have problems digesting dairy also have those problems with soya), plus nutritional breakdowns of their products. They also make powdered almond milk which sounds fab for use in baking- I will have to track some down.
Both desserts were amazing- the cocoa one had a rich taste with hints of almond in there. It went perfectly with some cherries and granola.
The natural one was delicious ( I added a few brownie bites from the freezer- the ones made with tofu) and it tasted to me like marzipan! Yum! If you like the almond milk then you will love these.
They are slightly runnier than the alpro soya pots, but fairly similar in calories (105 for vanilla and 120 cocoa per 100g, 1.6/2.1g protein, 3.9/5.4g fat – all good from the almonds). I love the hint of almond that they have.
My only complaint is that I have not seen them in shops- I would be getting them most weeks if I could!
Thanks Ecomil
PS You can like them on facebook to keep up to date with them.
They only launched in the UK recently but are available from the planet organic website.
