Plamil

Plamil is a company that started out making plant milk (according to the website- PLant MILk became Plamil- get it?) and now produces a huge range of dairy free foods. They kindly sent me some of their chocolate to try.

I started with some of the Dark Chocolate- 87% Cocoa.

This chocolate is lovely. It is rich, dark, but still a little bit sweet. I normally find that around 73% (specific) is my limit, as anything above that is too bitter or dry, but this was yummy. I had it with tea, which I love to do as then the chocolate melts more when you eat it. Mmm. 9/10 cherries

I had some of the Dark Chocolate with Mint (72%).

I love mint chocolate, but I am quite fussy as some can be too strong. This, however, is perfect. The balance between the rich dark chocolate and the cool mint flavour was lovely. Half a bar is a good amount, so as a bonus I get the other half another day! Of course I had it with tea too! 10/10 cherries

The Dairy Free (alternative to milk) chocolate was quite nice.

It had the texture of milk chocolate, and was alright, but not my favourite. As I have nothing against eating dairy, I would choose some good quality milk chocolate over this. But if you could not/ would not want to eat dairy, then it is a pretty good alternative. 7/10 cherries

60% cocoa Rum flavour with raisins

This had a strong rum flavour! I loved the raisins on the bar (they were sprinkled on the top)- I love raisins with chocolate. I do not like alcohol/ liquor chocolates or anything like that, but I did used to like those rum ruffles from the bakery when I was younger. So I was not particularly keen on this flavour (although the actual chocolate and raisins were lovely). 6/10 cherries

Dairy Free (alternative to white) chocolate

Andy really liked this, but I was not sure. I think perhaps I am more used to dark chocolate now than white, so found it quite sweet. Again the texture was similar to white chocolate, and at least the ingredients are all “normal”- no weird additives or chemicals or anything. 7/10 cherries

I really enjoyed trying these products so thanks Plamil. I found the bars were a great size to share- I tended to have half at a time and as they were rich that was plenty to get the cocoa hit. Also do you notice the common theme throughout this review? I do like a bit of chocolate with a nice cup of tea! I like the fact they try out some unusual flavours, and will be looking out for the mint chocolate as it was my absolute favourite, and probably my fave mint chocolate too :)
